Local oscillators for millimeter receivers
Abstract
The performance of millimeter wave receivers in the 30-300 GHz range, which are an essential part of modern tactical weapon systems, is largely determined by their local oscillator characteristics. Local oscillator requirements for present and future millimeter wave receivers are discussed, as are their performance and limitations. The need for higher-power waveguide sources, as well as the development of high-quality integrated circuit local oscillators, are examined.
