The effect of propagation on electromagnetic fields radiated by lightning
Abstract
The model of Gardner is used to study the attenuation of lightning fields with distance over a variety of propagation paths. The lightning channel may consist of an arbitrary arrangement of linear segments, each with a different propagation velocity. The effects of an imperfectly conducting, anisotropic ionosphere and a lower surface of earth or water (including sea state) are studied.
