Equations of fluid flow, finite difference approximations and basic mathematical properties of each
Abstract
Fluid flow equations and their approximation by finite differences, including advection equations, compressible Euler equations, potential flow, and incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are introduced. Stability analysis of finite difference methods for initial boundary value problems is outlined. Finite element methods for simple steady flows and for unsteady flows are presented. Moving finite element methods are sketched.
