Improving metric tracking data with Range Vernier and Telemetry Doppler
Abstract
Low cost modifications have been made to existing radars and telemetry ground support systems to obtain low-noise phase-coherent range rate measurements that are useful for missile propulsion, guidance and reentry performance analysis. Simple changes and additions are necessary to implement the Radar Range Vernier and Telemetry Doppler capabilities. The Radar Range Vernier system operates with a reflected signal or vehicle-borne coherent transponders. Telemetry Doppler is a one-way system that uses the on board telemetry signal. Both systems provide results that can be integrated over continuous tracking intervals and provide centimeter level resolution.
