Chemistry of lithium alloy/iron sulfide cells
Abstract
After a brief review of the Li-Al and Li-Si alloys used as negative electrode materials in molten salt batteries, the phases formed in FeS and FeS2 positive electrodes during cell operation are discussed, as well as the sequence of phase transitions during charge and discharge of the electrodes in molten salt electrolytes at temperatures of around 4000 C to 4500 C.
