Analysis of experiments on X-ray emission from laser-irradiated targets
Abstract
The X-ray emission of microballoons and planar targets irradiated with lasers was studied using three techniques. The X-ray spectra were determined using the one dimensional hydrodynamical FCL-1 Limeil code with multigroup radiative transfer and LTE ionization, as well as by using an emission and radiation transfer model with stationary T and R profiles and LTE coronal atomic physics. Theoretical and experimental scaling laws were used to establish X-ray conversion efficiencies. Results obtained using each of these methods are compared.
