Digitally controlled transversal equalizer
Abstract
An equalization structure is described for a satellite communications system in which the equalization is performed at passband and the tap weight corrections are derived at baseband and stored digitally. This structure is ideal for a 120-Mbit/s TDMA environment, since it responds to each of the successive bursts and provides for separate equalization of each transmitter/receiver link. The structure can also be implemented with available technology for TDMA bit rates. Computer simulation of the structure indicates good performance with respect to bit error rate for certain classes of distortion.
