On-board baseband processing - Rate conversion
Abstract
Attention is given to system architectures and baseband processing structures for a satellite onboard rate conversion system, which interconnects TDMA networks operating at different bit rates by converting their transmission speeds. This process requires the retiming circuits aboard the satellite to align demodulated clock timing, and to store cross-strap traffic bursts. Retiming techniques that use an elastic buffer and a unique word detector are analyzed in terms of implementation complexity.
