Characterization of 12-kW TWT HPAs for mixed TDMA/FDMA operation using Intelsat V frequency plan
Abstract
The coupled-cavity traveling wave tube high-power amplifier (TWT HPA) was evaluated by using Intelsat V Major Path II frequency plan loading, in which the TWT HPA handles a 120-Mbit/s QPSK TDMA and four large FDM/FM/FDMA carriers. The examination also included performance evaluation of a wideband predistortion-type linearizer. This experiment was performed at the Paumalu I Antenna Facility in Hawaii. Selected results were further examined by computer simulation.
