High resolution, high rate X-ray spectrometer
Abstract
A pulse processing system for use with detected signals of a wide dynamic range which is capable of very high counting rates, with high throughput, with excellent energy resolution and a high signal to noise ratio is provided. A pulse processing system wherein the fast channel resolving time is quite short and substantially independent of the energy of the detected signals is described. A pulse processing system having a pile-up rejector circuit which will allow the maximum number of noninterfering pulses to be passed to the output is also provided. New methods for generating substantially symmetrically triangular pulses for use in both the main and fast channels of a pulse processing system are suggested.
