Transmitting antenna for direct broadcasting satellites with radio frequency beam fine pointing capability
Abstract
The design objectives and electrical performance data are examined for a circularly polarized offset reflector antenna which is being developed as the transmit antenna of the TV-SAT direct broadcast antenna for the FRG. The antenna is composed of an offset paraboloid reflector with an elliptical corrugated feedhorn with RF sensor. The measured radiation pattern, gain figures, and RF-sensor performance are given. It is determined that a very compact and effective satellite antenna for direct broadcasting satellites with low sidelobes (less than or equal to -30 dB) and cross-polarization (less than or equal to 0.06 deg) can be designed by applying a focus-fed offset reflector antenna with an elliptical corrugated feedhorn.
