The effect of a sound field on coherent structures in turbulent flows
Abstract
The paper examines the synchronization and stochastization of coherent structures by a sound field as well as the appearance of the linear instability of periodic coherent structures as a result of their interaction with external wave perturbations. The coherent structures are represented as a small set of point vortices in the field of which small-scale turbulence moves; this makes it possible to calculate the velocity field of the small-scale turbulence and to determine the Lighthill stress.
