Absorption of a pulse traveling in a waveguide
Abstract
Pulse distortion in a waveguide due to absorption in the walls is considered. Results from actual measurements of the absorption coefficients published elsewhere are used, and the entire analysis is carried out for the TE(10) mode in a rectangular waveguide. The results are generalized to other wave modes and to circular waveguides. The general equations which are derived are valid for any absorbing dispersive medium.
