Oscillatory instability of a CO laser gas discharge plasma
Abstract
Instability of a CO laser gas discharge plasma involving oscillations in the current and in the intensity of visible discharge emission is reported. It is established that the product of the self-oscillation period by the pressure of the gas mixture is constant. The instability is attributed to an oscillatory redistribution of molecules over the vibrational levels.
