Energy cost of electron-ion pair formation in an electroionization discharge
Abstract
The parameters of an ionization cascade in a dense gaseous medium are calculated when a beam of 100-300 keV electrons passes through the gas. The effects of the electric field and the finite width of the discharge gap on the energy cost of electron-ion pair formation are analyzed.
