An experimental study of the generation parameters of a laser with a thin absorption layer in the cavity
Abstract
A systematic experimental study has been made of the generation characteristics of a laser in which the Q-factor of the cavity is modulated using a thin plane-parallel absorption layer. The effect of the layer parameters on the energy, duration, and spectrum of the generated emission is discussed. It is shown that the spectral nonselectivity of absorption layers makes it possible to use them for modulating the Q-factor of laser cavities in any specified spectral region.
