The aging of electroluminophors in the presence of moisture
Abstract
Experimental results are presented regarding the effect of water vapor on the speed of aging of ZnS, Cu, luminophors with different emission colors. It is shown that the bulk component of fast aging in the presence of moisture is due to an increase in the voltage applied to the grains of the luminophor and to the acceleration of electrodiffusion processes at high voltages. The through-heating of the luminophors at a temperature of 200 C leads to a recovery of their properties. The surface component of aging, leading to a darkening of the specimens, is associated with the generation of nonequilibrium holes. The decrease in brightness observed during the continuous operation of the luminophors is mainly determined by the bulk component of aging.
