Optimum conditions of the outflow of an underexpanded jet into the gas tank of an impulse wind tunnel in the case of partial evacuation
Abstract
A method for analyzing the process in an impulse wind tunnel with a single-section forechamber is presented which allows for a partial evacuation of a gas jet flowing into the gas tank. It is shown that the optimum initial conditions corresponding to a minimum deformation of the jet parameter field and figure in a given tunnel operation time are maintained up to sufficiently large evacuation flow rates. An approximate method of process analysis based on the assumption of a constant gas temperature in the tank is proposed.
