Externally controlled laser with stimulated-Brillouin-scattering stimulated-thermal-scattering mirrors
Abstract
A study is reported of the operation of a ruby laser with a resonator formed by two stimulated-Brillouin-scattering stimulated-thermal-scattering mirrors which are shaped by the light of an external signal. Thus, the first excitation of an optical resonator formed by phase-conjugating mirrors has been achieved. The emission characteristics below the lasing threshold and for the case when the gain exceeds the loss are discussed. The results of preliminary qualitative measurements of the spatial coherence of the light in a Young arrangement are reported.
