Some design consideration on a fast, reliable and low-power multiprocessor system for image processing on board scientific satellites
Abstract
The design of an image compression and decompression system for use on board scientific satellites is discussed. The multiprocessor system is programmable with image compression/decompression algorithms to process image data at relatively high throughput rates with a relatively low power consumption. The system fits in a relatively small volume. Enhancement of the adaptability of the system to a range of scientific satellites is emphasized.
