Intermittent gas-liquid flow modeling in horizontal or weakly inclined pipes
Abstract
The mean cell concept for intermittent gas-liquid flow is introduced. Superposition of the separated phase flows and the dispersed phase flows is outlined, and space time localized averages for each configuration and the corresponding balance equations are presented. A slug flow model based on the constitutive laws specific of intermittency phenomenon is proposed. The model was validated with pressure drop data obtained in petroleum engineering conditions.
