Modulation using four phase levels. Theoretical study of the degradation caused by a spurious phase modulation
Abstract
The bit error degradation for a QPSK modulated signal embedded in additive white Gaussian noise was studied, considering in particular the case in which the carrier is phase disturbed by a spurious sine or square wave. This kind of parasite is found in satellite transmission equipment. Analytical expressions are obtained and the computed results are shown in graph form as a function of the signal to noise ratios.
