Design and performance of etched polarisation transformers for microwave frequencies
Abstract
The design and measured performance of two types of transmission polarization transformers are described. The first type is the linear polarizer which can rotate the polarization of the linearly polarized incident wave through an arbitrary angle. The second type converts the linear polarization to right or left circular. Polarization transformation is achieved by passing the wave through an n-layer sandwich consisting of sheets of conducting grids etched on very thin printed circuit board and separated by dielectric spacers.
