Analysis of the performance of multiaccess networks of the bus type
Abstract
Problems related to delay and throughput of multiaccess networks are examined. The effect of transmitting variable length packets on network throughput are analyzed. The delay is evaluated as a function of the average number of retransmissions to which each packet is subjected. Non persistant, one persistant and p persistant protocols are examined finding that the results are reversed with growing traffic density for non persistant and one persistant protocols, while p persistant protocols keep an intermediate efficiency.
