Image signals encoding techniques oriented towards the reduction of perceptive redundance
Abstract
Image signal encoding techniques are reviewed. The reduction of perceptive redundance allows a further diminution of the image signal transmission rate. Compression efficiency and image quality are compared. Contour texture analysis and contour coding are the most effective to improve compression rate without a quality loss.
