Liquid flow through mesh-wire gauze wicks
Abstract
A model for the fluid flow through a stack of one or more layers of wire gauze is described. The stack can be clamped between two flat walls or mounted on a wall or be completely free from walls. The flow direction is in the plane of the gauze layer. A model for the flow through a combination of a gauze and a slit between the gauze layer and the wall is also described. The model predicts the fluid transport through a gauze wick in a heat pipe.
