Theoretical and experimental investigations for the construction of a continuous, RF-excited waveguide CO2-laser with high frequency tunability and high output power
Abstract
A line and frequency tunable waveguide CO2 laser of several watts CW output power for pumping FIR lasers and plasma diagnostic applications was developed. A Fox-Smith mode selector was integrated into the waveguide laser cavity to overcome tuning range limitations. Output powers 5 W are obtained with the RF excited waveguide laser in a plane/plane mirror configuration. With the mode selector, including a grating for line selection, the laser emits 2 W with a tuning range broader than 500 MHz.
