Wave propagation in fluid lines
Abstract
The dispersion equation for a linear elastic compressible fluid under isentropic conditions contained in a orthotropic viscoelastic tube, initially stressed and surrounded by external materials, is derived for all frequencies. The isentropic conditions, choice of reference velocity and the influence of the bulk viscosity are discussed. The rigid tube approximation is studied, and two approximate dispersion equations are derived. Fluid velocities, pressure, and the radial and axial wall displacements are given. The transfer matrix and the impedances of the fluid line are obtained.
