Optical diagnostics for condensed-phase shock-compressed molecular systems
Abstract
Experimental techniques capable of obtaining information about the molecular phenomenology in the region through and immediately behind the shockfront during the shock-compression of condensed-phase molecular systems are discussed and compared. Difficulties associated with performing measurements in this region are reviewed. Some concomitant static experiments that can be used to complement the dynamic measurements, are suggested. Developments and advances expected in diagnostic techniques during the next few years are summarized.
