Computation of the temperature distribution due to eddy-currents in the wall of a power transformer
Abstract
Current carrying conductors that are located near the wall of a power transformer may locally cause overheating. A method to avoid this is provided by placing a metal shield between the current carrying conductors and the relevant part of the wall of the transformer. This configuration is analyzed numerically by first computing the electromagnetic field distribution in it and by subsequently computing the resulting temperature distribution. For a typical configuration, numerical results are presented both for the vector potential and for the temperature distribution.
