Discussion of static pressure liquid-floated gyros
Abstract
Improvement in air floated gyro technology resulted in the replacement of gas by thin oil. The oil is continuously pumped to the bearings supporting the gimbal shaft by a miniature pump incorporated in the gyroscope itself. The oil circulates inside the housing and a self-feed type static pressure liquid floated gyro is formed.
