Research concerning metrology and fundamental constants
Abstract
The important role of fundamental constants and precision measurements in science is discussed and a requirement for increased and continuing support of this field is identified. Precise knowledge of fundamental constants and techniques for making more accurate and reliable measurements are required to test basic theories, to extend our knowledge of the universe, and for practical applications of fundamental theories. It is demonstrated by example that research in this field has led to profound advances that have had an impact on much of our technology-based society.
