National RF technology research and development program plan
Abstract
An initial assessment of the needs of the Magnetic Fusion Program for development of radio frequency technology was made. A plan was prepared to define the technology development needs and priorities. In order to assure that the activities described in the RF Technology Research and Development Plan are consistent with the overall fusion program strategy and recognizing the uncertainties and finiteness of the available resources, the plan delineates priorities and relative level of efforts. The highest priority is placed upon engineering development issues related to selection and demonstration of RF technology necessary for an Engineering Test Reactor. This includes delineation of technology feasibility questions for the Engineering Test Reactor and Critical evaluation and testing of selected components on near term devices such as TFTR and Doublet-3.
