Study on accommodation of a heat pump experiment on the European Retrievable Carrier (EURECA)
Abstract
A data base which enables the Dynamic Cooler Experiment (DCE) to be tested on board EURECA was developed. Mechanical, thermal, and electrical interfaces, and operational and safety aspects were studied. The experiment controller is the electrical link between EURECA and the DCE controller. It is reused from the SPAS-01 project. The experiment cooling loop is the active thermal interface to EURECA, and necessitates a design where two component groups are connected in parallel to a bypass. The heat dissipation experiment components discharge via a dedicated cold plate to the cooling loop. Ground support equipment is reused from SPAS-01.
