The use of resistance component measurements as diagnostic tools in assessing the resistance qualities of ship models
Abstract
It is shown that a combination of wave pattern and wake survey measurements can indicate the magnitude of resistance penalties associated with the bow or the stern. The measuring system uses miniature vanewheel anemometers. The wave pattern analysis model is based on linear theory. Resistance component measurements for 11 hull shapes are discussed.
