The effect of body forces on the motion and heat transfer of confined fluids
Abstract
The research performed under the subject dealt with two problems in which body forces lead to complex flows which are of scientific and technological importance. The first of these is concerned with the central unresolved problem of flows in completely confined enclosures, viz., that it is not possible to predict the flow pattern a priori for a specified geometric configuration and imposed boundary conditions. The second problem is an external one in which there is an interaction of hydrodynamic (Taylor-Gortler) and thermal (Rayleigh-Bernard) instabilities.
