Workshop on Discretization in Continuum Mechanics from the Engineering-Scientific and Mathematical Viewpoint, Bad Honnef, West Germany, September 26-30, 1983, Reports
Abstract
Various topics on continuum mechanics discretization are addressed. Some of the subjects discussed include: singular and regular boundary integral equations, new developments in the natural method, variational formulations in continuum mechanics, elastoplastic materials laws with linear plasticity conditions, boundary compatibility, numerical algorithms for simulating general stability problems, boundary element method evaluation of temperature fields, and incremental determination of large elastoplastic plate bending. Also considered are nonlinear FEM algorithms, mixed methods, calculation of major shifts and rotations using general variational principles, the Signorini problem with friction, optimization of contact problems, multigrid method for solving FE equations, error evaluation with conformal FE procedures, and convergence criteria for nonconforming finite elements. No individual items are abstracted in this volume
