Electronics - Basic concepts
Abstract
The fundamental principles of electronics are presented in an introductory textbook which follows a nontraditional approach in structuring the material. The concepts of signal, system, and operator are presented, using the example of a numerical multimeter and taking both functional and structural parameters into account. Methods of system modeling, synthesis, and analysis are reviewed. A second extended example, a controlled source or amplifier, is used to introduce the principles of circuit design. The theory, practical design, and application of major electronic components and macrocomponents are treated in detail including the diode junction, the bipolar transistor, and the operational amplifier. The performance characteristics of commercially available components are listed in tables and illustrated graphically.
