Electrostatics 1983; Proceedings of the Sixth Conference on Electrostatic Phenomena, St. Catherine's College, Oxford, England, April 13-15, 1983
Abstract
Papers are presented on various aspects of electrostatics, focusing on electrostatic hazards, fluids, discharges, measurements, solids, and industrial electrostatics. Topics discussed include the prevention of electrostatic hazards associated with shipboard inert gas operations, charge generation in low dielectric constant liquids, travelling wave coronas as an ion source, the effect of electrode characteristics on the measurement of the minimum ignition energy of dust clouds, the role of nonresonant tunnelling in contact electrification, and the intermittent contact electrification of polymers. Also examined are the implications of ion-wind and back-ionization on precipitator performance, a numerical model for electrostatic spraying, charge relaxation in pipes, solution contact charging, the adhesion of charged particles, the efficient calculation of electrostatic fields in large systems, and the simulation of particle movements in powder coating processes.
