Galactic astrophysics and gamma-ray astronomy; Proceedings of the Meeting, Patras, Greece, August 19, 1982
Abstract
The present conference on galactic astrophysics and gamma-ray astronomy considers such topics as the observation and verification of acceleration and transport processes, gamma rays and neutrinos as complementary probes in astrophysics, the observation of gamma-ray sources by the COS-B spacecraft, point-like gamma-ray sources, gamma-ray pulsars in the MeV region, and gamma rays from close binary systems. Also discussed are the search for pulsars as counterparts of the galactic gamma ray sources, high energy gamma ray observations and the large scale structure of the Galaxy, the use of gamma rays to trace local interstellar hydrogen, observations of supernova explosions and cosmic rays, and the comparison of far-IR radiation with gamma-radiation in the study of the large scale structure of the galaxy.
