Design of linear electric vibrators by the method of moments
Abstract
The paper examines the solution of the integral equation of a linear antenna by the method of moments using piecewise-singuosidal basis functions. It is shown that, when designing symmetric vibrators whose total length does not exceed 1.5 wavelengths, it is sufficient to employ only three overlapping piecewise-sinusoidal functions. Owing to the symmetry of the system, only two of these functions must be determined. This simplification of the method of moments significantly extends the capabilities of the analytical calculation of linear antennas, since the coefficients for the unknown currents in the linear equations are intrinsic and induced resistances of symmetric vibrators, for which ready formulas and plots are available.
