Nonreciprocal effects in a ring laser with a circularly anisotropic resonator during the application of a transverse magnetic field to the active medium
Abstract
Steady-state equations are obtained for the intensity and frequency of the generation of counterpropagating waves in a ring gas laser with a circularly anisotropic resonator where the polarizations of the counterpropagating waves are nearly circular. These equations are then used to examine nonreciprocal amplitude and frequency effects associated with the action of a transverse magnetic field on the active medium. Nonreciprocal frequency effects at 1.15 and 0.63 microns are estimated numerically.
