On the applicability of the Rayleigh hypothesis in the theory of electromagnetic-wave scattering by a periodic surface in an anisotropic plasma
Abstract
The criterion of the applicability of the Rayleigh hypothesis for the diffraction of a plane monochromatic wave by a sinusoidally corrugated surface in an anisotropic dielectric (plasma) is investigated theoretically. The region of plasma transparence and the low-frequency region are examined. It is shown that in both cases the criterion of Rayleigh-hypothesis applicability depends significantly on the degree of plasma anisotropy.
