Features characterizing bunching and energy exchange in a relativistic multicavity klystron
Abstract
A theoretical analysis is made of the bunching of electrons and energy exchange between the electron beam and electromagnetic field exchange between the electron beam and electromagnetic field in a relativistic multicavity klystron. A similarity principle is obtained which makes it possible to calculate the parameters of relativistic bunchers on the basis of a high-efficiency nonrelativistic analog. Numerical-simulation results show that high efficiencies (about 80 percent) can be attained in relativistic multicavity klystrons.
