A gyrocon with a longitudinal magnetic field
Abstract
Various types of gyrocons with a longitudinal magnetic field that are optimized with respect to efficiency are investigated for various accelerating voltages of the electron beam. It is shown that in this type of gyrocon the deflection of the beam can be compensated by a high-frequency magnetic field in the selector as a result of the azimuthal velocity of the electrons at its input. Data are presented concerning the effect of the angular scatter, the finite dimensions, and the quasi-static field of the electron beam on the output characteristics of the device.
