The determination of the complex coefficients of transmission and reflection in an axisymmetric slow-wave system with a phase-velocity jump
Abstract
The general properties of the transmission and reflection complex coefficients of axisymmetric waves in axisymmetric slow-wave systems are investigated. These systems are lossless with a phase-velocity jump and with an infinitely thin coaxial diaphragm in the place of the inhomogeneity. For a spirally conducting cylinder with a jump in the direction of conductance in the absence of a diaphragm, the modulus of the reflection coefficient, the phase jump of a wave propagating without attenuation, and the decrement for the wave which determines the longitudinal extent of the field of the local waves are calculated.
