Theory of acoustooptic interaction in active resonators
Abstract
The intensity of diffracted radiation is calculated for the acoustooptic interaction (AI) in a laser resonator. It is shown that, if the distribution of the diffracted-radiation field is close to the field distribution in the natural modes of the resonator, a sharp increase of the AI efficiency is achieved due to an increase in the effective path length of the light beam in the AI region. In this case, it is possible to achieve in active resonators an intensity of diffraction orders which is significantly higher than the intensity of the incident radiation.
