Noise characteristics of microwave-signal processing devices which use space-charge waves in thin semiconductor films
Abstract
A theoretical analysis is presented of the noise characteristics of longitudinal-drift traveling wave amplifiers and integrated microwave signal processing devices based on such amplifiers. It is shown that microwave amplifiers which use traveling space-charge waves in thin semiconductor films in a strong static field can have a sufficiently high sensitivity: their noise coefficient can be close to that of Schottky-barrier field effect transistors.
