Experimental study of the mechanism of the appearance and the structure of a strange attractor in an oscillator with inertial nonlinearity
Abstract
A comparison of results of numerical and physical experiments confirms that a strange attractor can exist in a three-dimensional model of an oscillator with inertial nonlinearity in a specific region of parameters. The mechanism of the appearance of stochasticity in this model is conditioned by a sequence of bifurcations of period-doubling type, characteristic for one-dimensional mappings of parabola type. Conditions for the approximate description of system dynamics by means of such one-dimensional mappings are established.
