The joint optimization of transmission and reception channels in radar
Abstract
The paper considers the problem of the joint optimization of the receiver and the transmitted signal in radar, with allowance for the statistical properties of the scatterers. Output statistics are obtained for a receiver which is optimal according to the maximum likelihood ratio criterion; its characteristics depend on the transmitted-signal vector. The expression for the signal/noise ratio at the output of the optimal receiver can be used to determine the vector of the optimal transmitted signal which maximizes this ratio.
